Cal Guard salutes health care workers and first responders with flyover Published June 17, 2020 146th Airlift Wing CHANNEL ISLANDS AIR NATIONAL GUARD STATIONS, Calif. -- The 146th Airlift Wing will be participating in Operation America Strong honoring California’s front line COVID-19 responders with a community flyover May 14. The pilots will fly in salute to health care workers, first responders, and everyone on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19. A formation of two C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, flown by the 115th Airlift Squadron, will begin the flyover at approximately 2 p.m. at the Palmdale Regional Medical Facility in Palmdale and continue throughout the state ending with a flyover throughout Ventura County. “We are so grateful to all of our health care workers serving in our communities,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Keith Chikasawa, 146th Airlift Wing commander. “Please join us as we show our appreciation to local health care workers with a flyover salute, honoring their commitment in providing care to our communities. They should also refrain from traveling to landmarks, hospitals, or gathering in large groups to view the flyover. They can also expect to hear aircraft noise as the planes fly overhead.
