129th hosting Yellow Ribbon event in Santa Clara Published Aug. 6, 2011 By Carolann Wunderlin 129th Airman & Family Readiness Program Manager MOFFETT AIRFIELD, Calif. -- The 129th Rescue Wing will host a two-day Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Event at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, Calif., Aug. 13-14. The first day of this event includes workshops on resiliency while day two promotes the various benefits and entitlements members and their families are entitled to. The second day also features keynote speaker, Erick Therwanger, author of "The Goal Formula," a book about effective goal-setting strategies important during all stages of the deployment cycle and beyond. Eligible candidates are those who will be completing or have completed an active duty tour in a contingency operation for a minimum of 90 cumulative days in a fiscal year. This particular event is aimed at servicemembers within 30, 60 and 90 days prior to deployment or who are 30, 60, 90 and up to 180 days post-deployment. Deployers are authorized to bring two dependents or family member designees (13 years old and above), on travel orders. Childcare services will be provided for children 12 years old and below. Those eligible from all branches of services are invited to register online at www.jointservicessupport.org. Teens, 13-18 years old, are welcome to attend the event as well. They will take a field trip on day one to downtown to the San Jose Tech Museum, watch an IMAX film, have a brown bag lunch on site, followed by a final trip to The First Tee - San Jose, a program that teaches life skills and leadership through golf. The second day teens will assemble in workshops, providing opportunity for peer-to-peer networking, team-building activities as well as meaningful discussions on conflict resolution, stress management and communication. The first 20 teens to sign up will be offered free passes to the Tech Museum and IMAX as well as a free workshop by the staff of The First Tee.
