Bernal works in Security Forces and is also this year's 146th Airlift Wing's Airman of the Year. 1. When did you enlist in the Air Force, how long have you been in the service? I enlisted October 2007, 3 and a half years. 2. What motivated you to enlist in the Air Force? To serve my nation and defend freedom. 3. How has being an Airman changed your point of view on life? It made me more proud of our military. 4. What's the most important lesson you've learned in the military? Integrity first, service before self, excellence in all I do. 5. What is your favorite part/memory about the Air Force? The honorable people I serve with. 6. If you could deploy anywhere in the world, where would you go? Wherever the mission calls for me to be. 7. If you could choose any Air Force job, which would it be? Why? Every job is equally rich and fulfilling. 8. Where did you grow up? The Santa Clarita Valley. 9. What is your civilian job? Full-time student. 10. What are your hobbies? Exercise and studying. 11. What would people be surprised to know about you? I have a well-funded 401k.
