July's Featured Airman of the Month Published July 9, 2011 By Airman First Class Ashley Ramirez 146th Airlift Wing Channel Islands, Calif- -- The 146th Airlift Wing is proud to feature Airman First Class Jesse Kramer as July's Airman of the Month. Although he may have joined the Air National Guard later in his life than others, this 30-something Airman from the Air Terminal Operations Squadron is honored to serve his country... no matter at what age. 1. When did you enlist in the Air Force, how long have you been in the service? I enlisted May 11, 2010. I have been in a little over a year and a month. 2. What motivated you to enlist in the Air Force? I have always wanted to enlist, but I took a different direction in life at first. I got tired of seeing our service men and women serve their country and make sacrifices but I wasn't. So this is my way of saying thank you to all of our veterans. 3. How has being an Airman changed your point of view on life? I am much more grateful for the freedoms that we have and it has made me aware of how organized the Air Force lifestyle is compared to the outside ( the civilian world.) 4. What's the most important lesson you've learned in the military? The mission comes first. 5. What is your favorite part/memory about the Air Force? My favorite memory is when I was in tech school in Virginia, I was invited to dinner with a Commander and a Command Chief Master Sergeant and I received my first coin from them. My favorite part is how much of a team everyone is in the Air Force. 6. If you could deploy anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would say Africa. 7. If you could choose any Air Force job, which would it be? Why? I would be a PJ (Pararescue) because I really wanted to be in a "hands-on" job that saves and rescues people. 8. Where did you grow up? Southern California in Simi-Valley 9. What is your civilian job? I am a contractor. 10. What are your hobbies? I enjoy coaching kids sports, surfing, skateboarding and mountain biking. 11. What would people be surprised to know about you? I am the oldest A1C on the base, I'm 37 years old.
