Colonel Matthew R. Glynn

Col. Matthew Glynn is the incoming Vice Commander of the 146th Airlift Wing, Channel Islands ANGS, CA. He is also the Commander of the 146th Maintenance Group where he commands and directs the administration, training and employment of two squadrons and two maintenance support elements, employing eight C-130J aircraft. Col. Glynn is a C-130J instructor pilot, a Modular Aerial Firefighting System pilot, and an Air Force Academy Admissions Liaison Officer.
 
Col. Glynn was commissioned by the US Air Force Academy in 1998. He graduated from Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training in 2000 and F-16 qualification training in 2001. During his first F-16 tour to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany he deployed in support of Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM. In his subsequent assignment as an Air Liaison Officer with the 101st Airborne Division, he again deployed in support of IRAQI FREEDOM, earning the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat. Colonel Glynn’s subsequent assignments included Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, where he was the Wing Flight Safety Officer and 36 FS Assistant Director of Operations. For his final active duty assignment, he returned to Spangdahlem Air Base, and again deployed in support of IRAQI FREEDOM. He was instrumental in the merging of two career fields as the wing’s first Aircrew Flight Equipment Officer, and the 52nd Fighter Wing’s Chief of Advanced Programs. Meanwhile, he earned his Global Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, and was dual qualified as a European and Latin American Foreign Affairs Officer. In 2010 Colonel Glynn transitioned to the California Air National Guard, and was the distinguished graduate of his C-130J initial qualification training. As a C-130J instructor pilot, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and as the 737 EAS Director of Operations for INHERENT RESOLVE.  He also deployed in support of several C-130 Aerial Firefighting operations and was the 115th Airlift Squadron lead for support of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. In his previous positions, Colonel Glynn served as the commander of the 146th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the deputy commander of the 146th Maintenance Group.
 
Col. Glynn is a pilot for a major U.S. airline. In previous positions, he was a project manager for two leading Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies, managing a multibillion dollar portfolio of research and development projects. He was instrumental in the launch of an innovative biotech product that was later acquired by a major company for over $2 billion. He and his family live in Agoura Hills, CA.
