Extreme Makeover' Seeks Military Families for Holiday Episode Here is a clip of a story posted on our public site regarding the cast of Extreme Makeover Home Edition looking for military families to feature on an upcoming episode. The reality show is seeking nominations for military families in desperate need of a home makeover. The selected family will be featured in an upcoming holiday episode. "We want to do a holiday-themed episode that's even bigger and more extreme than ever," David Shumsky, the show's casting director, said in an ABC news release. "In order to pull off such a huge venture, we need the support of the entire community. We know that the military communities will come out to help one of their own." Two sisters were separated by hundreds of miles of land and sea, but a promise brought an Army staff sergeant to Guantanamo Bay to pin on her sister's new rank during her promotion ceremony. The Abbott sisters joined the military within a year of each other, Rebecca joining the Army and Kelly joining the Air Force. Although they were not close in their youth, through their shared experiences of the military the two became best friends."I heard she was joining, and it's pretty ironic because I did my basic and AIT (advanced individual training) in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and she actually attended her tech school down at Fort Leonard Wood also," said Army Staff Sgt. Rebecca. "So we just missed each other."' The State of California wants to award this four-year benefit to all eligible California ANG members that apply. Awarded amounts can be up to $12,192 per year for attendance at a UC, for up to four full-time academic years!! HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I GET EACH YEAR FOR SCHOOL? You can receive up to the following amounts for the 2011-2012 academic year: $1,551 at Community College (per Cal Grant B) $12,192 at the University of California (per Cal Grant A) $12,192 at a nonpublic institution (per Cal Grant A) $5,472 at California State University (per Cal Grant A) Graduate studies: up to the maximum amount of Cal Grant A + $500 for books and supplies. Officers and enlisted are eligible. The award will pay up to four years for full time enrollment. A student is required to take at least three academic units per semester or equivalent at a qualifying institution to receive this award. The CNG EAAP award can be used at a community college, CSUs, UCs, and private educational institutions. Interested students should check to ensure the institutions they are attending or would like to attend is on the eligible list. This award program can be used to obtain a certificate, or it can be used towards Associates, Bachelors, Masters or even a Doctorial degree. TO APPLY: Submit the following two forms either online or via fax. Applications will continue to be accepted until all awards are exhausted.
